Claire is struggling to overcome the murder of her childhood friend and secret crush, Daniel. Everyone else seems to be moving on with their lives, but she's
still trying to cope. The fact that she finds herself alone and drowning on her 16th birthday isn't helping.

Neither is thinking she sees Daniel's face in murky water as she mysteriously resurfaces. But something happened during those four and a half minutes that will make her realize it was not just her imagination.

As Claire and Daniel try to grasp a possible reconnection, other grudge-holding beings have plans of their own. Now, the two of them have to decide if their fleeting relationship is worth the possibility of Claire being trapped on the fringe forever.

Beautifully told, On the Fringe intertwines fresh ideas about devotion, revenge, and the on sequences that come with life and death.

My first thought when I received On the Fringe from the author was what a beautiful cover. Something about it draws you as a reader in and makes you want to dig deeper to know Claire and Daniel. You know from the synopsis what happened, but not why or how, and I think that is why the cover does such a great job of connecting the reader to the characters.

On the Fringe starts out with two teens crushing on each other but neither one acting one it. I love these scenes, especially how Walker gives the reader both Claire and Daniel’s point of views. The scenes are really well written, and make me even smile to remember myself back at that age crushing on someone unexpected.

Claire goes on with her life after Daniel dies, not quiet living it to the fullest, but just getting by. What she, and we as the readers, learn is Daniel is still around. He is able to see her, follow her, and eventually contact her. The paranormal twist Walker gives the reader was interesting.

I don't want to give too much away, because the plot of On the Fringe was worth it. You never think when you die, you still have to deal with past problems, but here Claire and Daniel do. Daniels past comes back to haunt Claire. Claire and Daniel have to work together to solve two mysteries: who is trying to harm Claire and who killed Daniel. They also need to keep Claire safe and both try to move on. It's a daunting task, but one that is told beautifully.
