As the bodies come back to life, the plot takes an unexpected twist that you won't see coming. The supernatural world only begins to unfold before her as angels appear, her dreams start to haunt her, and the very past she has forgotten comes back with startling clarity. Romance blooms, escape plans are made, an assassin is out to kill her, and death is only around the corner. But what is more terrifying than all of it is the fact she is the chosen one, the Illuminator, the one who will save them all

Shadow of the Sun was an interesting paranormal romance. Laura Krietzer takes you on this wild, unpredictable ride.

Gabriella makes a terrific lead, smart, independent female who doesn't need a man, but would like one for companionship.  For being an orphan who doesn't know her past she is a well developed character. I can't say the same for the lead male, his character just fell flat. I found him to be very annoying.

Gabriella was orphaned at a young age, and cannot remember anything about her past; she is super smart and excels at everything academic.  Her job as a supernatural specialist doesn't give her much of a social life, she works long hours and has to keep it everything a secret.

When the "mummified bodies" she is working on start to regenerate her life is turned upside down. The FBI gets involved and soon Gabriella finds her self on the run with an angel who has been sleeping for the last hundred years, Gabriella ends up in some interesting situations.  

While on the run, a romance forms and I did find the situations pretty predictable. It did have some parallels with another very popular paranormal romance, but after awhile it went a different direction and became a very unique read.

All in all this was a good book and I can't wait to see where the story goes. I have a feeling this will be a series that gets better as the story progresses.
