Title: Take Me There
Author: Carolee Dean
Released: July 2010 by Simon Pulse
Synopsis: Sometimes sexy, sometimes sad, and always intense, Take Me There is a dark and surprising novel about a boy on the run who's headed nowhere fast.
Dylan has a bad-boy past and a criminal record. He knows that rich, beautiful Jess is way too good for him—but she has always been the one person who sees through his tough exterior and straight to his heart, and he has been hopelessly in love with her from the first time they met. He would change his life for a chance with her.
But trouble follows Dylan wherever he goes, and a deadly mistake soon forces him to hit the road and leave his dreams behind. He’s on the run and in search of answers—answers to questions he wishes he’d never asked.
Where do I begin..
Take Me There is one of those books, you think about days after reading. The story, is not a happy one, and it will make you question our current judicial system; and the problems that occur with illiteracy. Carolee has created this tragic, lovable character in Dylan - he tries so hard to do what is right, but just seems to get the short end of the stick.
Over the period of about a week in a half, Dylan and his best friend leave California in the middle of the night and drive to Texas. They are in trouble, but what's more important, is for Dylan, to see his dad, for what could be the last time.
During the road trip Dylan will relive the first time he met Jess, to what actually happen that night 11 yrs ago. He will do anything to know the truth, and save the people he loves- even if that means risking his own life.
Great read, that will leave you rooting for "the bad boy".

I always love the bad boys. Great review
ReplyDeleteGreat review! I agree w/ you. He's one bad boy you can't help but love. Have fun visiting w/ Carolee today! She's a blast to chat with.
ReplyDeleteSounds interesting! I'll have to keep an eye out, :)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read this book, just bought it. Btw, love the design on your blog!
ReplyDeleteI loved this book and loved talking with Carolee as well. What I liked most (besides Dyaln that is) is that it is not preachy. It doesn't say, think this way or that. It just presents the story and it is all left up to the readers to decide. BTW - I think all educators should read this book!
ReplyDeleteIt does sound like a great compelling read, but i'm too much of a sucker for fantasy lol
ReplyDeleteOne of my friend always teases me saying that if a book doesn't containt the sentence "and he is a vampire" it won't work for me lol
This sounds so good! I love tormented boys. Ohhhh my they're my favorite :)
