~The Dark Divine Review~

Title: The Dark Divine
Author: Bree Despain
Release: Dec. 2009
Rating:PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
Synopsis: A prodigal son

A dangerous love

A deadly secret . . .

I stood back and watched his movements. Daniel had that way about him that could shut me down in an instant. . . . I kicked the gravel a couple of times and worked up my courage again. “Tell me . . . I mean . . . why did you come back? Why now, after all this time?”

Grace Divine, daughter of the local pastor, always knew something terrible happened the night Daniel Kalbi disappeared—the night she found her brother Jude collapsed on the porch, covered in blood. But she has no idea what a truly monstrous secret that night really held. And when Daniel returns three years later, Grace can no longer deny her attraction to him, despite promising Jude she’ll stay away.

As Grace gets closer to Daniel, her actions stir the ancient evil Daniel unleashed that horrific night. Grace must discover the truth behind Jude and Daniel's dark secret . . . and the cure that can save the ones she loves. But she may have to lay down the ultimate sacrifice to do it—her soul.

~Spoiler Free Review~
The Divines, don't keep secrets, or so Grace thought.
Amazing debut from Bree Despain. Great love story, well developed characters and a family secret, that will keep you up at night .
Grace is the ultimate good girl, but when her childhood crush walks back into her life, she starts to lose herself. Did anyone else think Daniels theme song should be Cobra Starships Good Girls Go Bad?

Grace doesn't know what happened 3 yrs earlier when she found Jude passed out on the porch, but she is determined to find out. The longer Daniels in town, the weirder things get around the Divine House. Is he the cause?

  2. Hah, I loved how you used the song "Good Girls Go Bad" as a way to describe Daniel. My interest shot up another three levels because of that :)
